What To Bring

to White House Recovery & Detox

We designed our cozy, home-like facility to make everyone who stays here feel like part of a family. White House Recovery and Detox is an inclusive sober community, and we do not believe in policing standards. However, there are a few basic rules of civility to keep in mind while packing. You will not know who else will be sharing your space, so try to avoid bringing items that are likely to be offensive to others. If you find yourself uncertain, please call us ahead of time, and we will give you a more detailed answer regarding any specific item you would like to bring.

What To Bring

You will want to pack for the length of your stay, including the following items:

  • Prescription medication to last the entire period of your stay
  • Glasses or contacts, if applicable
  • Enough comfortable clothes for the duration of your stay, including:
    • Outerwear
    • Swimwear
    • Exercise clothing
    • Pajamas
    • Comfort items like robes and slippers
    • Comfortable everyday wear
  • Identifying information and contact information
  • Personal items such as pictures, books, notebooks, laptop, and music player
  • Accessories such as bags, belts, and hats
  • Toiletries and personal hygiene items

What to Leave at Home

When packing for your time at White House Recovery and Detox, there are a few things we ask you to avoid bringing with you. If you have questions about these rules, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are happy to make accommodations whenever possible. These exclusions are for the comfort and safety of everyone who will be undergoing residential treatment. Items to avoid bringing include:

  • Weapons or other items that may be considered dangerous
  • Medication prescribed to someone else
  • Alcohol, drugs, or related paraphernalia
  • Products that contain alcohol, including mouthwash with an alcohol content
  • Valuables or sentimental items that may be misplaced or lost
  • Provocative or vulgar clothing that may make other people uncomfortable 

Also, please reach out to us first if you are interested in bringing any of the following:

  • Lighters, matches, candles, or incense
  • Cameras

 What If You Forget Something? 

If you find that you forgot your toothbrush or need some swimwear to go surfing, there are plenty of nearby stores where you can purchase them. We’ll help to make sure that you have everything you need throughout your stay.
